Overview
This three-year technical diploma (DEC) trains pharmacy technicians for technical, administrative, and clinical work in community and hospital pharmacy settings. Coursework covers processing prescriptions, managing medication distribution, controlling drug supply and inventory, operating pharmacy information systems and equipment, and applying quality-control and risk-management procedures. Students also study team-management skills for supervising pharmacy technician staff, and take part in clinical placements in healthcare settings. Training takes place in laboratory facilities renovated at a cost of 1.6 million dollars, equipped with automated tablet counters, sterile compounding hoods, and automated medication cabinets. The programme leads to a Diplome d'etudes collegiales (DEC) and prepares graduates for work as pharmacy technicians in community pharmacies, hospitals, and other healthcare settings. The programme runs over six sessions of full-time study.
