Program details

Overview

IT Systems and Network Management (AEC) is an Attestation of College Studies delivered in person, full-time, primarily during the day, by Cégep de Sherbrooke's Centre de formation continue, over 19 months (1,545 hours). The program trains network administrators for corporate IT departments or consulting roles, emphasizing polyvalent technical skills across the management of local and wide-area networks. Coursework covers installing and maintaining networked systems, managing and maintaining local and extended networks, providing technical support to users, and producing technical documentation. The program is intended for learners building toward a network-administration career rather than a general introduction to computing. On completion, graduates are prepared for network-administrator and technical-support roles within corporate IT departments or IT consulting firms. The AEC is a workforce-oriented continuing-education credential rather than a diploma of college studies (DEC), and admission is processed through the Centre de formation continue.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must satisfy Cégep de Sherbrooke's general AEC admission conditions and pass an information-technology competency test. Applicants must also satisfy one mathematics prerequisite — TS 4th-year Secondary, SN 4th-year Secondary, CST 5th-year Secondary, or Mathematics 436 — or hold a combination of training and experience related to computing judged sufficient by the Cégep. Applicants who do not hold a Quebec Secondary School Diploma (DES) or an equivalent Francophone credential must pass a French-language proficiency test. A curriculum vitae, a letter of motivation, and IT-test results are required with the application. A non-refundable $30 CAD admission and file-analysis fee applies; tuition depends on the applicant's status and was not published as a fixed figure at the time of review.
