Language Stimulation in Educational Settings (AEC) is an Attestation of College Studies delivered online, part-time, by Cégep de Sherbrooke's Centre de formation continue, over 12 months. The program is a specialization for school and early-childhood professionals already working with children, developing their ability to play a role in preventing language problems and in actively promoting children's linguistic development. Coursework totals 240 hours across four components: communication and language acquisition (45 hours), language stimulation and literacy (60 hours), partnership and language stimulation (45 hours), and an intervention practicum (90 hours). The program builds on candidates' existing responsibility for a group of children, combining theoretical grounding in language development with a supervised practicum applying stimulation techniques. The AEC is a workforce-oriented continuing-education credential rather than a diploma of college studies (DEC), and admission is processed through the Centre de formation continue. The next cohort begins in the Winter 2027 term.
