Overview
This AEC (attestation d'études collégiales) programme trains specialists in cannabis production and processing, with competencies recognized by a Quebec higher-education institution to ensure the quality and safety of cannabis-derived products. Coursework covers preparing fresh and dried plant material, monitoring growing conditions and plant maturation, extracting cannabis oil, managing and denaturing production residues, applying good laboratory and production practices, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The programme runs 14 months in hybrid format. It suits candidates who enjoy hands-on work with equipment and instruments, methodical step-by-step processes, and the sciences, particularly chemistry and biology. Admission requires a Diploma of Secondary Studies or training judged sufficient by the cégep, along with a Diploma of Vocational Studies or an interruption of full-time studies of at least two consecutive sessions or one school year. Particular conditions require Secondary IV mathematics and physical science and Secondary V chemistry, or equivalent upgrading, and reaching the legal age for cannabis consumption and possession in Quebec (21) by the start of training. Graduates work across private companies, government or private inspection services, greenhouses, production facilities, and processing laboratories.
