Program details

Overview

Nursing is a technical Diploma of College Studies (DEC technique, 180.A0) offered at Cegep Limoilou. The program develops students' analytical skills and clinical judgment so they can assess patients' health status and intervene appropriately with a range of client populations. Learning combines simulated care scenarios, laboratory work, and clinical placements (stages) in health-care settings, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge under supervision before entering practice. The college also admits new students at the winter session in addition to the regular fall start. The program suits students who want to care for others, are curious about physical and mental health, enjoy working closely with people and in teams, and are interested in understanding how the human body functions. On completion, graduates are qualified to practise as a registered nurse in Quebec's health-care system, with the clinical and simulation-based training intended to prepare them to work confidently across varied care settings and with diverse patient populations.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Nursing (Soins infirmiers, 180.A0) requires Cégep Limoilou's general DEC admission conditions (Quebec DES, or DEP plus Secondary 4 Mathematics, Secondary 5 English and Secondary 5 French, or equivalent training or experience) plus a Secondary 4 science prerequisite: Science and Technology (ST) and Environmental Science and Technology (STE), or Applied Technical Science (ATS) and Science and Environment (SE). The programme recommends, but does not require, Secondary 5 Chemistry before starting; students who have not completed it are offered two remedial courses in first year. Because clinical placements begin in the first session, students must meet immunization requirements communicated through the student portal and undergo a criminal-record check, which health and social-service institutions require before accepting students into practicum. Graduates must also register with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ), at a cost of about $242. The programme has limited enrollment (contingentement), so admission can be competitive and selection may be based on academic record. No English or French language test, portfolio or interview is stated on the programme page.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through SRACQ (Service regional d'admission au college de Quebec) at sracq.qc.ca: for the Fall 2027 (August) intake the college runs four admission rounds closing 1 March, 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027, each later round admitting only while seats remain, and for Winter 2027 (January) entry - offered on every DEC programme except Nursing - rounds close around 1 November, 1 December 2026 and early January 2027 (the site states only that round-3 course confirmation and fee payment are due 13 January 2027, not the application deadline itself, so an exact round-3 cut-off date cannot be quoted). International applicants of any nationality must submit their DEC application by 1 February 2027 for the August 2027 intake; the Cegep publishes no separate deadline for a January start. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
