Overview
The Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship at Centennial College trains registered apprentices across five required courses: Work Practices, Engine Systems, Drive Train Systems, Suspension, Steering and Brake Systems, and Electrical/Electronics and Emissions. In-school training covers vehicle engines, electrical and electronic systems, fuels, transmissions, drivelines, steering, suspension, and brakes, delivered on campus at the Ashtonbee Campus in eight-week blocks, alongside employer-based on-the-job training. On completion of the required in-school levels, the on-the-job training hours, and the Ministry certification exam, graduates receive an Ontario College Certificate. Admission is arranged through Ministry registration rather than direct application: applicants must already be employed as an apprentice before the College will enrol them.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must already be employed as an apprentice; the College does not accept direct applications, and registration is arranged through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. An Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required, along with English language proficiency.
