Overview
Practical Nursing is a diploma program offered by the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) that trains students to care for people who are ill or recovering. Coursework covers taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, administering medication, and supporting patients' daily needs, working under the direction of nurses, physicians, and other health professionals across systems such as the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, musculoskeletal, and reproductive systems, along with mental-health and palliative care. Clinical placements are built into the program at several points, taking place in long-term care facilities, hospital units covering acute, palliative, pediatric, perinatal, and psychiatric care, and community settings, alongside a preceptorship-style transition placement near the end of the program. The program is offered at all five CCNB campuses — Bathurst, Campbellton, Dieppe, Edmundston, and the Péninsule acadienne. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic admission requires a New Brunswick high school diploma (regular, modified, or adult programme), GED, or CCÉA, with Mathematics 30321A, 30311B, or 30331C and Biology 53421 at a minimum passing grade of 65%. Applicants who do not meet this pathway may instead pass the CCNB admission test; international applicants need an equivalent secondary diploma plus this test. Once admitted, the New Brunswick nursing regulator (AIAANB) requires a 75% pass mark in all courses. Students must submit an up-to-date immunisation record per the standard medical form and a criminal record check at least twice, before the first practicum and before the licensing exam, plus a birth certificate and secondary transcript. Non-native French speakers without sufficient French-language schooling must demonstrate proficiency via TFI (minimum score 700), TCF or TEF Canada (level B2), DELF (B2), or DALF (C1).

Application Deadline:Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick publishes no fixed application opening or closing dates, for either domestic or international applicants, for the autumn or winter session; the selection process begins in November for the following academic year, and complete applications are evaluated on a rolling basis as they are received. Rather than calendar deadlines, CCNB publishes a list, refreshed each cycle, of which programmes currently have admissions open (a 2026-27 list is live, covering Automne 2026), and it recommends applying early because some programmes draw more applications than seats available. Once an offer is made, domestic applicants have 30 days to confirm their place, while international applicants have 21 days. No separate international application deadline exists; the same rolling process applies to international applicants. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
