Overview
Sciences de la nature – Parcours enrichi (200.B1) is an enriched track within the Sciences de la nature pre-university program at Collège de Maisonneuve, leading to a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) over four terms. It offers a more interdisciplinary and contextualized approach to the sciences than the standard program, built around a dedicated weekly module of multidisciplinary integration and enrichment held each term. Students stay together in a stable group across their science and mathematics courses and are taught by a multidisciplinary teaching team that draws explicit connections across subjects such as biology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics; example enrichment themes described for the program include artificial intelligence, biostatistics, the physics of the circulatory system, and space exploration. The college states that this enrichment is achieved without adding extra instructional hours, by condensing core content. The program is intended for highly motivated students and, alongside standard preparation for university science programs, offers workshops that simulate admission tests and interviews for competitive programs such as medicine and aerospace engineering; students who complete optional courses in human anatomy/physiology and organic chemistry gain the prerequisites for any university program. Admission Requirements: Sciences de la nature, parcours enrichi, requires the DES (Diplôme d'études secondaires) or equivalent training, plus three 5e secondaire prerequisites: mathematics (Technico-sciences or Sciences naturelles, or the equivalent), chemistry, and physics (or their equivalents).
