The Machinist program trains students to set up and operate precision metal-cutting and grinding machines, including lathes, milling machines, drills, shapers, boring mills, and grinders. Coursework covers manufacturing, installing, adjusting, and repairing machine tools for job-shop work, involving varied repair parts, and production-shop work, involving mass production and CNC machining. It is a Red Seal trade, with apprenticeship pathways available, offered as a full-time, 37-week Certificate program delivered on-campus at the Placentia campus. Admission requires high school graduation, a College Transition Certificate, Adult Basic Education Level III with the General College Profile including recommended mathematics and science courses, a Trades Bridging Certificate, or qualification as a mature student, requiring applicants to be at least 19 years old and out of school for at least one year. International applicants must meet the college's English language proficiency requirements.
