Overview
College of the North Atlantic's Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technician program is a two-year, six-semester diploma delivered on campus at the Gander campus. Students train to inspect, maintain, and certify the airworthiness of aircraft, covering airframes, engines, and avionics systems through classroom theory and extensive hands-on shop practice. Graduates become eligible to pursue Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licenses across three categories: M1 (small aircraft), M2 (large aircraft), and E (avionics). Coursework covers aircraft structures, powerplants, electrical and avionics systems, and the regulatory and safety standards governing aircraft maintenance. Graduates are prepared for careers with airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and maintenance and repair organizations, performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs that keep aircraft safe and airworthy, working within the regulatory framework set by Transport Canada.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires one of: a High School Graduation Certificate with a 60% average across eight Level 3000 credits including Mathematics, a College Transition Certificate with a 60% average including Math Fundamentals I & II, Adult Basic Education (Level III) with the specified mathematics courses, or Mature Student status (age 19+, out of school at least one year). International applicants must meet CNA's institution-wide English Language Proficiency Requirement (Admission Procedures AC-102-PR, Section 5.2): IELTS Academic overall band 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79, PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo English Test 105 (component minimum 110).
