Cert in Plumber

College of the North Atlantic's Plumber program is a 34-week certificate delivered on campus at the Bonavista campus, leading toward Red Seal certification in the plumbing trade. Students learn to install, maintain, and repair pipes, fixtures, and related equipment used in water distribution and wastewater disposal systems across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Coursework covers blueprint reading, pipe layout and fabrication, fixture installation, and system testing, combining classroom instruction with hands-on shop practice. The program follows the Red Seal trade curriculum, preparing students for apprenticeship registration and the technical training components required to become a certified journeyperson plumber in Newfoundland and Labrador. Graduates find work with plumbing contractors, construction companies, and building maintenance departments, installing and servicing water supply, drainage, and heating systems. The certificate provides the technical training block of the plumbing apprenticeship, which students combine with on-the-job work experience hours to progress toward full trade certification and Red Seal endorsement.
