College of the North Atlantic's Television and Film Technical Production program is a one-year, three-semester certificate delivered on campus at the Prince Philip Drive campus. Students complete a common first semester covering the technical foundations of television and film production, then specialize in one of three technical areas covering camera operation, lighting, rigging, props, set decoration, and sound work. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on studio and location-based training, culminating in a cross-discipline film project and a six-week field placement with an industry employer. Graduates are prepared for entry-level technical roles on television and film productions, including camera, lighting, grip, and sound crews, as well as related work across the film and television industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. The program emphasizes practical, collaborative production experience, giving students exposure to the full technical workflow of a production set before they enter the workforce.
