Overview

College of the North Atlantic's Wind Turbine Technician program is a one-year certificate delivered on campus at the Bay St. George campus, the first program of its kind offered in the province. Students train in the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in wind turbines, learning to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair turbine equipment in line with the varied demands of the wind energy industry. Instruction combines classroom theory with hands-on laboratory and field-based practice on turbine components and control systems. Because the role involves physically demanding work at height and in confined spaces, students must obtain physician clearance for the physical activities involved before entering the program. Graduates are prepared for entry-level technician roles maintaining wind turbines and related renewable-energy infrastructure with wind farm operators and service providers.
