Program details

Overview

College of the North Atlantic's Business Administration program is a two-year diploma covering financial accounting, business law, marketing, human resource management, business communications, and workplace technology applications. Coursework also includes leadership, organizational behaviour, and business ethics, alongside practical skills such as spreadsheet use and computerized accounting. Students who complete the first year only may exit with a Business Administration Certificate rather than continuing to the full diploma. The program includes a six-week work placement in the final semester, giving students hands-on experience applying classroom learning in a workplace. Delivery is primarily on-campus through the School of Business & Information Technology, with an online asynchronous option also offered. The program suits students seeking a broad grounding across accounting, marketing, and management rather than a single specialization, preparing them for entry-level positions in public institutions and small or large businesses. Graduates find work in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, hospitality, health care, education, finance, and public service. The diploma also serves as a pathway to further study, with transfer arrangements available toward bachelor's degree programs at institutions including Athabasca University and Memorial University for graduates who want to continue their education.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 60.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires a Provincial High School Graduation Certificate with a 60% overall average, including English 3201, four credits of Mathematics, and five 3000-level credits; equivalent College Transition, Adult Basic Education (Level III) Business-Related Profile, or mature-student routes (age 19+, one year out of school, individually assessed) are also accepted. The programme page does not set its own English-language threshold and instead follows CNA's institution-wide English Language Proficiency Requirement: IELTS Academic overall band 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79, Pearson PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo 105-110, waived after three years of English-medium schooling. No interview, portfolio, or work-experience component is required for admission.

Application Details

Start Date: September
Application Deadline: College of the North Atlantic accepts domestic applications on a rolling, first-come basis with no fixed opening or closing date published for any intake; the college states applications for a program remain open until it is filled, which for competitive programmes such as Practical Nursing can mean the intake closes before the term starts. International applicants apply directly to CNA; for the Fall 2026 intake the college published a closing date of 30 April 2026 (with late applications from students already holding a study permit still considered), but no equivalent Fall 2027 or Winter 2027 international date has yet been posted. Admission is therefore effectively rolling for domestic applicants and governed by a single seasonal cutoff, not yet republished, for international ones. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
