Overview
College of the North Atlantic's Sound Recording & Production program is a two-year diploma delivered on campus at the Prince Philip Drive campus, preparing students for audio production careers across music, film, television, live events, and digital media. Across six semesters, students build expertise in live sound production for concerts, conferences, and theatrical performances, on-location sound recording including boom mic operation and field recording, post-production audio design using industry-standard software, stage sound and lighting fundamentals, music recording, mixing, and mastering, broadcasting and webcasting, and sound design and foley creation. The program combines classroom theory with practical application, culminating in a capstone project or work-integrated learning experience. Graduates pursue roles in music, film, television, gaming, live events, and corporate or educational sectors, with alumni having toured internationally with touring acts and provided sound for major awards shows including the ECMA and JUNO Awards.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry accepts a Provincial High School Graduation Certificate with a 60% average across eight level 3000 credits, including Mathematics (50-60% minimum depending on course level); a College Transition Certificate (Math Fundamentals MA1040 and MA1041) or Adult Basic Education (Level III) Graduation with the General College Profile (including specified mathematics courses) are also accepted. Mature student applicants (age 19+, out of school at least one year) may be considered on an individual basis. International applicants must meet the College's English language proficiency requirements per Admission Procedures AC-102-PR, Section 5.2: IELTS Academic overall band 6.0, TOEFL iBT 79, PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo English Test 105.
