Overview
This Bachelor of Arts, offered through Concordia's School of Community and Public Affairs, combines academic study with community-based activism, focusing on public policy, policy advocacy and community economic development. The curriculum explores social and economic justice, equity, participatory citizenship and democracy, and cultural pluralism, integrating theoretical coursework with practical experience through community partnerships and an internship option. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on Concordia's Sir George Williams campus. The Major requires 42 credits. The program is aimed at students pursuing careers in community organizing, public policy, non-profit management and public administration, and combines classroom learning with applied fieldwork.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires an overall average of 24; Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a B- overall average (ACT/SAT not required); IB Diploma applicants need 27 points overall; French Baccalauréat applicants need 12 points overall; university transfer applicants need a B- average. Applicants are interviewed by phone, Zoom or in person as part of the admission process. Admission is available for the Fall and Winter terms.
