Overview
This Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality, offered through Concordia's Simone de Beauvoir Institute, examines sexuality through multiple academic lenses including anthropology, art history, cultural studies, film studies, fine arts, history, literature, philosophy, psychology, religion, sociology and women's studies. Coursework applies feminist and critical frameworks to a wide range of sexual identities and experiences, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, intersex, queer, asexual, heterosexual, pansexual, monogamous, non-monogamous and polyamorous lives, and combines theoretical study with community-based practicum placements. Students may pursue a 42-credit Major or a 27-credit Minor. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus in Montreal and admission in the Fall or Winter term. The program suits students interested in gender and sexuality studies, community organizations, and further graduate study in related humanities and social science fields.
