The Master of Fine Arts in Studio Arts is the culmination of academic training in the visual arts, developing students' conceptual understanding of their work alongside advanced production skills. The programme is offered within one of North America's largest graduate fine arts schools and includes six areas of concentration: Fibres and Materials Practices, Intermedia, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture and Ceramics. It is a thesis-based programme requiring 45 credits, normally completed over two years of full-time study. Graduates are prepared for roles in contemporary art practice, including teaching, curating, criticism, publishing, and research. The credential awarded is a Master of Fine Arts (MFA). Admission requires a BFA, or a BA with a major in Fine Arts or Fine Arts and Art History, or an approved equivalent, with a minimum B average in the major area and proficiency relevant to the chosen area of specialization. The programme is delivered on campus at Concordia University's Sir George Williams campus in Montreal, with intake offered in the Fall term only.
