Overview
This Mathematics and Statistics program, offered by Concordia's Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the Faculty of Arts and Science, develops tools for exploring real-world questions in science and engineering through linear algebra, calculus, probability and number theory, alongside professional software for data analysis. The program is offered as a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, with a Major (42 credits) or Minor (24 credits) option. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), depending on the student's academic background, with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus and admission in the Fall or Winter term. Graduates pursue careers in data analysis, actuarial science, finance, education or graduate study in mathematics or statistics.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry from Quebec CEGEP requires a DEC with an overall math average of 20, including Calculus 1 and 2, Linear Algebra, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a C+ overall average, with C+ in math required for the BSc, one math course (Pre-Calculus or Calculus) and, for the BSc, two sciences from Biology, Chemistry or Physics. IB Diploma applicants need 26 points overall and a score of 4 in math (one science required for the BSc), with one course at HL level. Baccalauréat français applicants need 11 overall and in math; British A-levels require at least two exams with DD results; university transfer students need a C average in Calculus and Linear Algebra. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 (February 1 for U.S./international) and Winter applications November 1 (August 1 for U.S./international).
