English Literature (PhD)

The PhD in English Literature is a thesis-based doctoral program in Concordia University's Department of English, Faculty of Arts and Science, that develops advanced expertise in period- and area-specific literary archives and scholarly skills. The program examines literature and media as cultural categories in both historical and contemporary contexts, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary exchange and cross-cultural study. Doctoral candidates complete an original research thesis under the supervision of a faculty member working in a related literary or cultural field. The degree requires 90 credits and has a nominal full-time duration of four years, based at the Sir George Williams campus. New students are admitted in the fall term only.
