Overview
This Master of Design (MDes) is a two-year, 45-credit graduate program at Concordia University that broadens students' knowledge of design across the fields of visual communication, the built environment, interaction design, and design studies. Admission is research-oriented, requiring a portfolio of creative work, writing samples, a letter of intent, and a five-page preliminary research proposal, and the program culminates in an independent research or creative project. It is delivered on-campus at Concordia's Sir George Williams campus, with a single Fall intake each year. Applicants normally hold an undergraduate degree or graduate diploma in design, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant undergraduate field, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.30 scale. Graduates are prepared for advanced design practice, research, and leadership roles across visual communication, the built environment, and interaction design.
