Drafting and Design for Additive Manufacturing is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program focused on computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D printing within the additive manufacturing field. Students learn to create CAD drawings and produce 3D-printed models of objects, components, and assemblies based on blueprints and schematics, using cloud-based drafting software. Hands-on work takes place in the college's 3D Printing Lab, giving students practical experience preparing and producing print-ready designs. The program covers both industrial additive-manufacturing applications and the design skills needed for small-scale or entrepreneurial production. Graduates are prepared for drafting, design, and additive-manufacturing support roles in manufacturing, engineering, and product-development settings, and gain a technical foundation for further study in mechanical design or manufacturing technology.
