Cert in Pre-Apprenticeship General Machinist/Tool & Die

Pre-Apprenticeship General Machinist/Tool & Die is a government-funded pre-apprenticeship program providing hands-on training in precision machining. The program combines 19 weeks of classroom and shop instruction with an eight-week paid industry placement, and aligns with General Machinist (Precision Machining) Common Core Level 1 apprenticeship training. Students learn to operate manual machining equipment, read blueprints, apply shop mathematics, follow workplace safety standards, and work with common machining materials and processes. The program is tuition-free, funded in part by the governments of Canada and Ontario, and requires applicants to meet eligibility requirements and attend an information session. Graduates are prepared to enter a General Machinist or Tool & Die apprenticeship or to seek entry-level positions in precision machining and manufacturing.
