The Hearing Instrument Specialist diploma is a two-year program at Conestoga's Kitchener - Doon campus preparing graduates to support people living with hearing loss. Admission Requirements: Domestic entry: an OSSD or equivalent, or mature-student standing at 19 or older, with Grade 12 English (C or U) or Preparatory Communications (COMM1251); Grade 11 Mathematics (C, M/U-C or U) or Preparatory Mathematics (MATH1420); and Grade 11 or 12 Biology (C or U) or Preparatory Biology (SCIE1010). Conestoga's Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas also meets the requirement, though applicants who intend to continue to a degree are pointed at the Advanced Diplomas and Degrees pathway instead. Because the work is in a communication disorders field, the college stresses strong spoken and written English. Before work-integrated learning, and by the deadline in the health and safety package issued at the end of first year, students must present a full immunisation record, Standard First Aid and CPR at Level C, and a vulnerable sector police check clear of unpardoned offences; some placements also verify COVID-19 vaccination and some ask for a check issued within six months. International applicants: Conestoga's international requirements page takes this diploma out of the standard diploma and certificate score row but does not publish a replacement minimum for it, so confirm the required English score with International Admissions before booking a test.
