Program details

Overview

Long Term Care and Retirement Community Management is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate offered at Conestoga's Kitchener - Doon and Milton campuses. The program prepares administrators for the long-term care and retirement sector, responding to demand created by Canada's aging population. Students develop competencies in the financial, operational, human resources, and quality-improvement functions involved in managing long-term care and retirement community facilities. The program is intended for graduates of business or health-related diploma or degree programs, or those with related industry or professional experience, and prepares graduates for administrative and management roles in long-term care and retirement community management, an area of growing demand within the health and social services sector. The credential is delivered over two academic terms and is designed to build on prior post-secondary study or industry experience rather than serve as a standalone entry-level qualification.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires a two- or three-year diploma or a degree in business or a health-related discipline from an accredited college or university, or a combination of academic studies and a minimum of two years of related industry or professional experience.
