Operations Leadership in Food Manufacturing is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate at Conestoga's Cambridge - Fountain Street campus. The program is designed for graduates with a degree or diploma in science or engineering who are pursuing supervisory roles in food manufacturing. Coursework develops leadership skills in communication, performance management, problem-solving, and decision-making, applied within a food manufacturing pilot plant that gives students exposure to local industry operations. Students learn continuous improvement methodologies including Lean Six Sigma, along with project management, equipment maintenance, and food safety and quality-assurance strategies, preparing graduates for supervisory positions in the food manufacturing industry and related process-manufacturing environments. The credential is delivered over two academic terms at the Cambridge - Fountain Street campus and builds on prior science or engineering study rather than serving as a standalone entry-level qualification.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma, degree, or equivalent in a related field such as food science, food engineering, food technology, biotechnology, general science, environmental science, earth sciences, chemistry, microbiology, biology, or mechanical, electrical, industrial, or agricultural engineering; a two-year diploma obtained outside Ontario does not meet the minimum ranking requirement for entrance. Applicants are ranked based on an assessment of their academic background, including the length and type of credential, the affinity of their area of study with the program, and overall academic performance. Applicants with transcripts from an institution outside Canada must have their documents evaluated for equivalency, including a comprehensive or course-by-course report, through an approved provider such as ICAS or WES. Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must demonstrate English language proficiency per Conestoga's institution-wide requirements for degree and graduate certificate programs (IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 88, PTE Academic 58, or Duolingo 120).
