The Truck and Coach Technician Apprenticeship prepares students to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy-duty vehicles, including commercial trucks, buses, and emergency vehicles. Delivered on campus at the Thunder Bay campus under Skilled Trades Ontario intake 310T, the apprenticeship combines classroom instruction with hands-on shop training across in-school levels, alongside employer-based on-the-job training over roughly two to five years depending on the trade. Coursework covers engine systems, electrical and electronic systems, drive train systems, steering and suspension, braking systems, HVAC and refrigeration systems, and electronic fuel systems, with emphasis on diagnostics and repair of vehicle technology. Apprentices also study workplace safety and trade ethics. Graduates who complete all levels and pass the required assessments are eligible for certification as a Truck and Coach Technician, a credential used in fleet maintenance, public and commercial transportation, and emergency-vehicle service. The program runs part time, with course scheduling arranged around each apprentice's work placement and Skilled Trades Ontario level requirements.
