Future Teachers Associate Degree

The Future Teachers Associate Degree at Douglas College is a two-year, 60-credit, four-semester credential intended for students planning to become primary- or secondary-school teachers. Coursework is selected to help students meet the admission requirements of teacher training programs at various British Columbia universities, while also completing two years of university transfer courses that count toward a Bachelor of Arts degree. The program is offered at the Coquitlam and New Westminster campuses. An optional Co-operative Education stream allows students to alternate semesters of study with paid, full-time work terms, earning income and building a resume and employer reference before graduation. A tuition-free, six-week online preparatory course, MATU 0500 Set for Stats, is available for students who want to refresh their mathematics skills before taking the required statistics course, delivered through lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and problem-solving practice with no assessment required. Admission follows Open Enrolment under the college's General College Admission Requirements.
