You can become an education assistant with the Education Assistance and Inclusion Certificate. You’ll gain skills that encourage the well-being, development and education of people with disabilities.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: On top of Douglas College's general admission requirements and English Language Proficiency requirement (proof of English proficiency, met with IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 83, PTE Academic 56, Duolingo English Test 110, CAEL 60 or another option the college accepts), the Education Assistant and Inclusion Certificate assesses suitability through two professional reference letters, a current resume, and a letter of intent setting out the applicant's reasons for choosing the programme, long- and short-term goals, and related strengths and limitations. Applicants may be asked to attend an interview with the department to further determine suitability. Following an offer of admission, accepted applicants must complete a Criminal Record Check arranged through Enrolment Services. No minimum GPA is stated on the programme page.

Start Date: Douglas runs three fifteen-week semesters a year: Fall from September to December, Winter from January to April and Summer from May to August. The programme page lists intakes in Fall (September). The Fall 2026 semester began on 8 September 2026 and Winter 2027 classes begin on 4 January 2027.
