Overview
Gain in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge so you can be a part of building more inclusive schools and communities with the Diploma in Inclusive Education and Disability Studies. This program equips you with the tools to support the development, learning, well-being and full participation of children and adults with disabilities. You'll explore foundational theories and current research in areas such as advocacy, disability studies, inclusive education, teaching strategies and employment supports, preparing you to lead and contribute meaningfully to inclusive settings.
During the first year of the program, you’ll complete two workplace practicums where you'll gain hands-on experience in schools and community settings supporting individuals with disabilities.

Admission Requirements: This is a second-year entry programme. Required: the general college admission requirements and completion of the Douglas Education Assistance and Inclusion Certificate or an approved equivalent — applicants with related post-secondary study, or at least two years of work experience in the field, may be considered individually. SUITABILITY is established by two professional reference letters attesting to your fit for the programme, a current resume, and a letter of intent setting out why you chose the programme, your short- and long-term goals and your related strengths and limitations. The department may require an interview. A criminal record check follows an offer of admission, with information from Enrolment Services. First-year applicants apply to the Education Assistance and Inclusion Certificate instead. Start Date:Douglas runs three fifteen-week semesters a year: Fall from September to December, Winter from January to April and Summer from May to August. The programme page lists intakes in Fall (September). The Fall 2026 semester began on 8 September 2026 and Winter 2027 classes begin on 4 January 2027.
