Overview
The Skills for Success Practitioner (SFSP) Certificate is a six-course program offered through Douglas College Continuing Education, available online, in person, or in a hybrid format. It is aimed at educators, career practitioners and employment counsellors, ESL instructors, human resources professionals, and employers who want to integrate Canada's Skills for Success framework into their work with learners. The program teaches participants what the Skills for Success are, the framework's proficiency levels and underlying methodology, how to assess a learner's existing skill levels through assessment and portfolio work, how to build individual learning plans around those levels, how to design skill-building activities, and how to use the framework's related tools and resources. The six courses are: an introductory course (offered either as a general introduction or, alternatively, as the Indigenous Skills for Success Journey, Planting the Seeds for Growth), Methodology and Task Analysis, Assessments, Interpretation and Application, Creating a Skills Portfolio, Bridging the Gap, and a Work Experience Study course. To begin, prospective students complete a Skills for Success Practitioner Program application form and submit it by email for a suitability review before being advised on registration next steps.

Admission Requirements: Admission is a two-step suitability review rather than a transcript-based process: applicants first complete the Skills for Success Practitioner Program Application Form and email it to the program office, which reviews the form and advises the applicant on next steps before they select courses and register through Continuing Education. No minimum grade average, degree requirement, English-language test score, reference, or portfolio is stated on the programme page; suitability for the program's intended audience, educators, career practitioners and employment counsellors, ESL instructors, human-resource professionals, and employers, is assessed through this application-and-review step alone.

Application Deadline:Douglas College publishes college-wide application windows rather than a single date for every programme, and the domestic and international timetables differ. Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC: for the 2027 entry cycle, Fall applications open 1 October 2026, Winter applications open 1 February 2026, and Summer applications open 1 June 2026; limited-enrolment programmes set no fixed close and shut once seats fill, while open-enrolment programmes stay open until 4:00 p.m. the Friday before the semester starts. International applicants apply directly to Douglas: Fall 2026 entry is now closed, Winter 2027 entry is accepted until 30 September 2026, and Summer 2027 entry until 31 January 2027. Admission is effectively rolling within each window until seats or the deadline are reached. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
