Overview
Interior Design Studio sits at the centre of this programme, using a simulated studio setting where industry practice and design theory come together in project work. Teaching leans on collaboration, idea generation, guided questioning and critical analysis within a recognised design process, with short lectures on key criteria framing each project scenario before students chart their own critical path, individually or in teams. The first studio course examines problems both within and outside the discipline, asking students to work through two- and three-dimensional exercises that explore how colour, light and the arrangement of space affect a room. Across these projects, the design process itself gets attention alongside psychological elements — spatial quality, perception and colour — weighed together in shaping an interior space.
