Overview
The 2-year Civil Engineering Technician program is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and experience to thrive in a growing, fast-paced industry. Students will gain hands-on experience in managing civil engineering projects, from compliance with laws and ethical standards to ensuring sustainable practices are embedded in every phase. You will be ready to work effectively with diverse project teams, communicating clearly with stakeholders and contributing to successful project outcomes. Combined with strong technical skills, you will also learn how to collect, analyze, and present data, as well as use industry-leading technologies to support project execution.

Admission Requirements: Fanshawe admits Civil Engineering Technician applicants who hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or who qualify as mature applicants with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 Math (C or U, MCT4C preferred); a Grade 12 Foundations for College Math (MAP4C) at a minimum of 60% is accepted but may require additional preparatory math within the program. Applicants short of these courses are directed toward academic upgrading or Fanshawe's one-year Trade Fundamentals preparatory program. English requirement per Fanshawe's institution-wide English Language Requirements table (same table cited on the program page): IELTS Academic overall 6.0/no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT overall 4.5/no section below 4 on the 2026 scale (79 on the pre-2026 scale); PTE Academic, CAEL, Duolingo, Cambridge English and LanguageCert are also listed. Grade 11 Functions and Applications, construction engineering technology, physics, chemistry and introductory computer science are recommended academic preparation, and applicants are expected to be reasonably proficient in math-related courses; Fanshawe's Pre-Technology program is the preferred (though not guaranteed) preparatory route into this program.

International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) and face fixed document deadlines rather than a single closing date: for the current intakes, study-permit and conditions-met documents are due 10/15 August 2026 (Fall), 9/15 December 2026 (Winter) and 5/15 April 2027 (Summer); missing a deadline can mean deferral to the next intake.
