Overview
The Early Childhood Education (Fast Track) program is designed for students who want to go from the classroom to a career in a short time. As a student you will experience a unique blend of theory and coursework, with real experience in the field. Over 10 months, you'll develop your knowledge and professional skills in the early childhood educator's role and responsibilities, the importance of play in children's learning, family involvement and curriculum design and pedagogy. Your practicum will expose you to a wide variety of age groups and multiple organizations, providing eclectic experiences that will make you more valuable to the field of early childhood education. When you graduate you will have the knowledge and necessary skills to work with children, families and community in the context of early learning and development programs for children from birth to age twelve. You will also be prepared to work in a variety of settings, including child care centres, early learning and family centres, Best Start programs, before and after school programs and with school boards.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires one of: an Ontario College Diploma in Community Studies; a university degree in Social Sciences; or a combination of relevant education and work experience judged by the College to be equivalent. International applicants must present one of: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5; TOEFL iBT overall 4.5 with no band below 4 (79 under the pre-2026 scale); CAEL overall 60 with no band below 50; PTE Academic 53 with no band below 45; Cambridge English 169 overall with no skill below 162; Duolingo overall 105 with no component below 95; LanguageCert Academic overall 65 with no skill below 60; or Fanshawe ESL/GAP5 Levels 8-10 at 80%, 75% or 70%.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for Fall 2027 entry, applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, after which later applications are assessed on a first-come basis until seats fill; non-competitive programs begin receiving offers from 1 November 2026, competitive-program offers go out by 30 March 2027, and 1 May 2027 is the usual deadline to accept an offer. International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) and face fixed document deadlines rather than a single closing date: for the current intakes, study-permit and conditions-met documents are due 10/15 August 2026 (Fall), 9/15 December 2026 (Winter) and 5/15 April 2027 (Summer); missing a deadline can mean deferral to the next intake.
