This diploma builds a grounding in human behaviour and psychology, along with an understanding of individual and social problems. Students learn established techniques used in social service work, preparing them for roles within social agencies and social welfare programmes.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature-applicant status with credit in Grade 12 English (College or University stream, C or U). This is a competitive program: Fanshawe receives more applications from qualified applicants than it has seats available. Applicants may strengthen an application, or meet the admission requirements outright, by completing the one-year Human Services Foundation preparatory program with a final cumulative GPA of 2.0 (further detail at fanshawec.ca/hcp). Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Fanshawe's Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas & Certificates English requirement published on the programme page: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 (2026-scale equivalent overall 4.5, no band below 4.0), PTE Academic minimum 53 (no band below 45), CAEL overall 60 (no band below 50, 80 in listening), Cambridge English 169 (no skill below 162), Duolingo 105 (no score below 95), or LanguageCert Academic 65 (no skill below 60).
