Program details

Overview

The programme is designed to prepare graduates who can positively contribute to Ontario's wider healthcare system and to nursing practice beyond the province. It builds the knowledge and clinical skills graduates need to deliver high-quality nursing care to individuals across every stage of life.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 75.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent carrying six Grade 12 U or M courses with a combined average of 75 per cent or above, and those six must include Grade 12 (U) English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology (or equivalents), each of them also at 75 per cent or better; the two remaining courses need a final grade of at least 60 per cent each. The ENG 4U credit itself is compulsory: George Brown does not accept an English proficiency test result in its place for this program, and admissions testing is not available for degree entry. Mature applicants must be 19 by the first day of scheduled classes and must still hold the individual prerequisite courses and meet the GPA. Every applicant has to disclose all prior post-secondary study, including partial completion; anyone with earlier nursing study needs a combined grade point average of at least 2.33 (C+) and to be in good standing, and failing to disclose previous coursework is treated as an academic offence that can cost an offer or a place. Prerequisite credits older than ten years are not counted, and there is no advanced standing - everyone starts in semester 1. Subject to competition, offers usually go to applicants holding grades above these minimums. Domestic applicants presenting international transcripts need a Canadian equivalency evaluation. In the 2026-27 cycle the program is open to domestic applicants only.
