Cert in Culinary Skills

Admission Requirements: Admission is competitive on academic achievement and requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent plus Grade 12 English (C or U); this certificate is not eligible for course exemptions. Applicants 19 or older with no OSSD may apply as mature students and sit the George Brown Admissions Assessment in English or complete the equivalent upgrading credit. This programme page does not restate a language-test table, but George Brown's institution-wide English Proficiency requirement applies to applicants whose prior study was not in English: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 per band), TOEFL iBT 80 (minimum 20 per skill), PTE Academic 54 (minimum 50 per skill), CAEL 60 overall, or Duolingo 110 (minimum 90 production). Kitchen labs routinely use nuts, dairy and shellfish, and George Brown notes it cannot guarantee halal or kosher compliance for food produced and consumed in the program.
