Cert in Electronics Technician (Distance Education)

The Electronics Technician program is a 32-week, part-time certificate delivered fully online as distance education, leading to a George Brown College certificate. It covers the fundamentals of applied electronics, from series circuits to digital electronics, and the skills needed to assemble, install, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment used by consumers, businesses and industry, including circuits, capacitors, resistors, semiconductors and amplifiers. Instruction combines self-paced study with hundreds of practical laboratory experiments using two simulation environments, 3DLab and CircuitLogix, to demonstrate theory and industrial and manufacturing electronics applications. The curriculum consists of 24 modules of text, animations, audio lectures, illustrations, review questions and practice exams, with more than 450 pre-built lab projects. Students who have completed the Electromechanical Technician program are exempted from 18 modules. The program requires a Windows-compatible computer, since the simulation software does not run on macOS, Chromebook or Linux systems. Graduates are prepared for roles as service technicians assembling, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment, and credits may apply toward George Brown's Electronics Engineering Technician diploma or bachelor's degrees at Athabasca University and Neumann University.
