Overview

The Wildlife Conservation Technology diploma at Holland College combines outdoor fieldwork with classroom study of plant and animal ecology, environmental chemistry, map use, wilderness first aid, and wildlife management. Over two years, students take part in extensive field camps, conducting habitat surveys and songbird banding, and complete 160 hours of on-the-job training with a wildlife-related employer. The program can serve as a stepping-stone toward the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation degree at the University of Prince Edward Island. Graduates are prepared for technician-level roles in wildlife management, conservation agencies, and environmental monitoring organizations. The curriculum builds practical field research skills alongside scientific knowledge of ecosystems and wildlife populations, suited to students who enjoy hands-on outdoor work in variable field conditions across a range of habitats and seasons.
