Overview
The Early Learning and Child Care Diploma is a two-year, five-term Keyano College credential that prepares students to support children's development and create inclusive early-learning environments. The curriculum builds skills in program planning, child development, guidance, leadership and family and community engagement, combining classroom instruction with four practicum placements in licensed early-learning and child-care settings. Year-two entry is available to students holding an Early Learning and Child Care Certificate, or Level 2 certification, and equivalent coursework and practicum experience. The diploma is delivered in-person at Keyano College's Clearwater Campus in Fort McMurray, Alberta. First-year admission requires an Alberta high-school diploma with a minimum grade in English 30-1 or English 30-2, and mature applicants aged 21 or older without a diploma may apply through an interview and the College Entrance Assessment. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the college's English-language-proficiency requirement before admission.

Admission Requirements: First-year admission to the Early Learning and Child Care Diploma requires an Alberta high-school diploma with a minimum of 50% in English 30-1 or a minimum of 65% in English 30-2. Mature applicants aged 21 or older without a high-school diploma may apply through an interview and the College Entrance Assessment. Year-two entry requires an Early Learning and Child Care Certificate or equivalent, or Level 2 certification together with equivalent coursework and practicum experience. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Keyano College's English-language-proficiency requirement, met through TOEFL iBT (minimum 79, no section below 19), IELTS Academic (minimum 6.0), CAEL (minimum 60), Duolingo English Test (minimum 100) or PTE Academic (minimum 50), or by presenting six or more years of full-time education, including grade 12 or higher, completed in English.
