The Social Work Diploma prepares students to support individuals, families, and communities through direct social-work practice. The two-year, five-term program combines classroom instruction with practicum placements, covering social justice, counselling skills, community development, and Indigenous perspectives on social work. The program is approved by Alberta Advanced Education and accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers, meeting the academic requirements for registration as a Social Worker in Alberta. Coursework builds an ethical foundation for practice alongside applied skills used in front-line social-service settings. Admission includes a pre-entry interview with the program Chair, a character reference, and a Child Welfare and Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. Graduates are prepared for roles in community and social services, child and family services, and related human-services settings. The program is delivered in person at Keyano College's Clearwater Campus in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
