Concurrent Education at Lakehead University allows students to complete an undergraduate degree in their chosen subject alongside Faculty of Education coursework, earning two credentials and Ontario College of Teachers certification without applying separately to a professional education program. Students combine their subject degree with education courses in the early years, then complete two final years focused exclusively on education coursework, including practicums and classroom placements. Two teaching divisions are offered: Primary/Junior, covering Kindergarten to Grade 6, and Intermediate/Senior, covering upper elementary and secondary grades. The combined structure spans five to six years depending on the subject degree and stream chosen. The program emphasizes practical, placement-based learning to prepare graduates for certified teaching careers in Ontario's education system.

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School applicants must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with a minimum of 6 Grade 12U or M courses, including program-specific prerequisites, and a minimum 70% overall final average. Prerequisite courses vary by subject stream: subjects such as English require ENG4U, while science-based subjects require mathematics plus two additional science or math courses.
