Overview

Consecutive Education is a two-year Bachelor of Education program at Lakehead University for students who have already completed a three- or four-year undergraduate degree. The program prepares certified teachers through practical, experiential learning, including 105 days of in-class placement over the two years, in Primary-Junior (Kindergarten to Grade 6) or Intermediate-Senior (Grades 7 to 12) divisions. A Primary-Junior off-campus delivery stream is also available, placing students off-campus one day per week. The program leads to Ontario College of Teachers certification and qualifies graduates to teach in Ontario's publicly funded school system, and is intended for career-changers and recent graduates entering teaching after an undergraduate degree in another subject.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a recognized three- or four-year undergraduate degree, with preference given to those presenting a minimum 70% average or equivalent, calculated on the last 10 undergraduate degree-level full course equivalents. College transfer applicants require a minimum of five full-year university-level course equivalents. Applicants must present a course background supporting the teaching division and subject(s) applied to, and Intermediate-Senior applicants must submit a supplemental Teaching Subject Requirement form.
