Technological Education is a Bachelor of Education program at Lakehead University for tradespeople and skilled workers seeking Ontario College of Teachers certification to teach in technological subject areas, including Communications Technology, Computer Technology, Construction Technology, Green Industries, Hair Styling and Aesthetics, Health Care, Hospitality and Tourism, Manufacturing Technology, Technological Design, and Transportation Technology. The program runs over approximately 16 to 18 months, delivered partly in person and partly online, with two summers of on-campus instruction and the remaining coursework completed virtually. Applicants must hold an acceptable university degree or college diploma along with substantial work experience and skill in the technological area they intend to teach; Hair Styling/Aesthetics and Transportation Technology applicants also require a current Certificate of Qualification. The program is offered at both the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold an acceptable university degree or college diploma and demonstrate an acceptable level of skill, knowledge and work experience in the technological area they intend to teach, from among Communications Technology, Computer Technology, Construction Technology, Green Industries, Hair Styling and Aesthetics, Health Care, Hospitality and Tourism, Manufacturing Technology, Technological Design or Transportation Technology. Hair Styling/Aesthetics and Transportation Technology applicants must also hold a current Certificate of Qualification. All students must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check before student teaching placements and meet program health requirements.
