BA/BS in Kinesiology

Lakehead University's Kinesiology program is an honours degree covering the science of human movement and its relationship to health, wellbeing, and performance, with coursework in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, motor control, nutrition, and adaptive physical activity. It is offered as a standard four-year Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology, a five-year co-op option including at least four four-month paid work terms, or combined five- to six-year programs pairing Kinesiology with a Bachelor of Education in either the Primary/Junior or Intermediate/Senior stream. First-year coursework includes kinesiology, chemistry, and English; upper years cover exercise physiology, the psychology of physical activity, and musculoskeletal injuries, and fourth-year students complete a required research project. Instruction combines classroom teaching with lab-based work in small lab sections, delivered at the Thunder Bay campus, and prepares graduates to sit Ontario's Registered Kinesiologist exam. The program suits students aiming toward careers in coaching, athletic or personal training, rehabilitation, or further professional study such as physiotherapy, medicine, or occupational therapy.
