Overview

The Master of Arts (MA) in English and Cultural Studies at Lakehead University offers routes suited to students' interests and goals, including thesis, coursework, research-project, and creative-project options, along with specializations in Gender and Women's Studies or Social Justice Studies. The program serves both as a terminal degree and as preparation for further doctoral study. Students must normally complete all requirements within six terms of continuous registration, equivalent to two years. Applicants must be graduates of a recognized university, college, or institute with evidence of scholarly achievement, normally holding a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent with at least second-class standing (B) based on their last 20 half courses or equivalent, and must have taken or be taking at least one full-course equivalent in literary and cultural theory. The program is based at the Thunder Bay campus with a Fall intake.
