Program details
Overview
Lakehead University's Gerontology specialization is a collaborative graduate program spanning five departments, giving students an interdisciplinary perspective on aging alongside their home discipline. Students complete a thesis or major project in their collaborating academic unit with a gerontological focus. To take the specialization, students must first be admitted to the graduate program in one of the collaborating units: Education, Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or Sociology, meeting that unit's four-year bachelor's degree requirement with at least second-class (B) standing based on the applicant's last 20 half courses or their equivalent. The specialization admits students for the Fall term, in step with the home program's intake. Graduates gain a gerontological research focus alongside their home discipline's degree, preparing them for research, clinical, or policy careers related to aging.
