Overview
The Master of Nursing (MN), Nurse Practitioner Specialization, at Lakehead University is a coursework program with a clinical placement component that leads to eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse (Extended Class) Nurse Practitioner. The six-credit program uses a blended delivery model, combining face-to-face instruction with technology-enabled synchronous distance education such as Zoom; certain courses require on-campus attendance, and all clinical placements must be completed within Lakehead University's geographic boundary. Full-time students are expected to complete all degree requirements within six terms of continuous registration, with a flexible option extending completion to twelve terms. Admission requires a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or its equivalent with a minimum 70% average, current unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, the equivalent of two years of full-time nursing practice (3,640 hours) within the past five years, and two references, one academic and one clinical.
