Overview
Langara's History Associate of Arts Degree is a two-year university-transfer credential built around the study of the past as a way of understanding community identity and different values and perspectives. Coursework moves beyond a chronology of facts and dates to explain the real lives and forces that shaped past events, drawing on primary and secondary sources across periods and regions. Through regular written assignments and class discussion, students build core transferable skills that employers value, including the critical evaluation of evidence, assessment of conflicting data, and logical, well-supported argument. The degree is offered full-time or part-time, with intakes in September, January, and May. Credits earned in the program are designed to transfer toward a bachelor's degree in history or a related discipline at partner universities in British Columbia and beyond.
