Overview

Professional Bookkeeper is a part-time short certificate that can be completed in person, through scheduled live online classes, or through self-paced asynchronous online study, though every final exam must still be written in person at Langara or an approved test centre. Its curriculum runs from two levels of bookkeeping fundamentals through business communications, payroll administration, income tax preparation, cost management for bookkeepers, and hands-on training in Sage 50, Sage 300, and QuickBooks, with no prior bookkeeping experience assumed going in. The program takes a minimum of eight months across January, May, or September starts, and graduates can go on to pursue the Certified Professional Bookkeeper designation through CPB Canada, entering at the Apprentice level with a discounted student membership rate along the way. International students additionally need to meet academic English requirements and hold a valid study permit.
